About the piece:
A while back, I had taken my portfolio to a restaurant to show a friend some drawings.
When our food arrived, I set the portfolio next to me and forgot about it. On my way home, I
remembered and quickly went back to get it. It had already been taken.
I was destroyed at the loss of so many original pieces, as well as a scrapbook of my earliest
drawings and news clippings. I considered giving up art all together. I entertained the thought for
a few days and then started work on this piece, "Taken".
It was meant to express my anger at the person who had stolen my portfolio, but while writing
in the piece, my thoughts on my mother came forward. She had also been taken from me.
"So much of myself I lose on purpose, so much more has been taken."
